I have followed my passion for French ribbon for more than thirty years with a dual goal of sharing my interest in ribbon with other avid textile lovers, and finding a way to preserve them through design and contemporary use. Education has always been at the core of my business. I have traveled to France many times to expand my knowledge of the French ribbon industry, and its colorful history.
For over 17 years, my shop has been located at 119 Louisiana Avenue in Perrysburg, Ohio. Like a precious jewel box it's filled with hard to find treasures that appeal to embroiderers, quilters, history buffs. Patrons are treated to an impressive variety of imported, specialty, and vintage ribbon by the yard as well as innumerable objects that feature ribbons. All types of quality imported French ribbon are displayed from those with domestic use; like satin, grosgrain, velvet and wired taffeta, to one of a kind embroidered jacquard ribbon, and vintage or antique ribbons from the past. My shop has been a kind of laboratory where I learned how to utilize French ribbon in ways that would best showcase their countless decorative assets.
Both the shop, and the Ribbonry website are exciting resources for sewing hobbyists as well as those involved in historic re-enactments and medieval costume fairs, and anyone who loves textiles. Recently, my focus has expanded to include an Internet customer base, Interior Design, and a Bridal salon, so I have relocated to the top floor of the same location, where I continue to research new and creative ways to showcase beautiful ribbons.
Customers are welcomed to browse an even broader spectrum of ribbon. The Interior design salon showcases specialty fabrics and custom furnishings that utilize ribbons as trim and as fabric for decorative pillows, draperies, ottomans, and upholstered chairs. The Bridal salon features distinctive ways for a bride to accent her special day. Hand sewn silk and satin ribbon flowers and buds are accented with vintage ribbons and leaves. These lovely objects come together to create bridal accessories and headpieces like garters, wreaths, headpieces, and flowers on combs. Customers have the option of purchasing ready-made and custom objects, like ribbon woven belts, evening bags and flowers.
